Coronavirus Has Now Killed More Americans Than Vietnam War

U.S. coronavirus-related deaths reached a sobering milestone on Tuesday, surpassing the number of American citizens killed in the Vietnam War.

With more than 58,300 Americans who have died from COVID-19, according to a tally kept by the Johns Hopkins University. That compares with the National Archives’ figure of 58,220 deaths from the Vietnam War, which lasted more than a decade.  Confirmed cases of COVID-19 topped 1 million in the U.S. on Tuesday, (according to Johns Hopkins)

According to the statistics, the death toll from the Covid-19 disease in the United States broke an official record indicating that 58,200 Americans died in the Vietnam War between 1964 and 1975..

Furthermore, the United States confirms the first patient from Covid-19 was officially on the 20th of January, a citizen who had traveled from Wuhan City, China. The first area in the world to have an epidemic of new strains of the coronavirus… Whilst the first confirmed death occurred on Feb. 29th who was an elderly person at a care center in Washington State..

While the number of deaths caused by the disease from Covid-19 in the United States is still lower than the deaths from influenza from period 2017 to 2018 (about 61,000 people) but an assessment by the University of Washington states that Covid-19 may kill more than 74,000 people in the United States by August 7th, up from the forecast on April 22nd which was estimated at over 67,000..

The novel coronavirus has laid siege to health care systems and battered economies around the world since health officials first identified it in December in Wuhan, China.
