Green light !! Students can now have long hair

New rules issued by the Thai education authorities starting immediately state that both boys and girls will be able to wear their hair long or short, though it must remain “appropriate” and good looking..

The new rules long sought after by teens wanting to be independent was announced in the Government Gazette.

Boys are still limited by how long their hair can be at the back and it should not go beyond the “hairline”   the style and fringe should be appropriate and decent looking.

Girls can now wear their hair as long as they like so long as it conforms to being appropriate and respectable looking.

But boys cannot have facial hair or styling, dyeing of the hair of both sexes is still prohibited.

there have been many cases of teachers forcibly cutting students’ hair in recent years. This has caused many people to question the legality of such rules in relation to human rights.
