Government authorities arrested 22 foreigners at a party at Lamai Beach, Koh Samui on May 10th. Reports say they were mocking the COVID-19 virus when police showed up. Both THAI and foreign tourists, including Mr. Quintin Thaiuliet, a French owner of the LA Bohemia restaurant where the party was held.

Most of the foreigners who were arrested said, that they were only supposed to stay in Koh Samui between January and  March, but with the outbreak of the stealthy COVID-19 virus, they were unable to return to their home country. Therefore they came to eat, drink, and be merry at the restaurant without knowing that it was illegal.

Despite the owners’ storytelling, the chief officer charged Mr. Quintin on 3 charges, 1. Opening a place without permission 2. Employer hiring foreigners with a work permit and 3. knowingly violating the order of Emergency decree. They were all brought to Bophut Police Station in Koh Samui District and continued their raging party inside a deluxe jail cel.
