Famed Abbot honored today in UDON THANI after deadly fire–VIDEO
UDON THANI: Yesterday, the Police examined the scene of the blaze that claimed the life of Phra Ajarn Sudjai Thanthamano, who had served as the abbot of Wat Pa Ban Tad since the passing of the revered Luangta Maha Bua in 2012.
Police were called to the temple in tambon Ban Tad of Muang district on Friday and arrived on the scene with firefighters.
When they arrived, Monks were already trying to put out the flames and rescue the abbot trapped inside.
When the fire crew eventually put the fire out, monks rushed in to bring Phra Ajarn Sudjai out,. He was brought to a van and rushed to Udon Thani Hospital but he died before he reached the hospital. The van brought his body back for a proper ceremonial funeral.
Phra Ajarn Sudjai Thanthamano was 75yrs old and had served as the abbot of Wat Kesornsilakul. He was widely known as Wat Pa Ban Tad, since the passing of Luangta Maha Bua in 2011. Phra Ajarn Sudjai Thanthamano had succeeded Luangta Maha Bua at Wat Pa Ban Tad in Udon Thani.
He will be missed by many.
