MAY 26 – Police officers inspected a house in Suan Longan, Chiang Mai owned by Miss Kamonthip Sobkraib, aged 41, a good-looking widow. She was shot and killed alongside Mr. Charoen Manee, age 51, both found wrapped in black bags that were dragged to a garden behind the house. The corpses had been dead for at least 2 days.

Investigators found bullet holes in an ornamental plant holder and through the front door along with blood splatter from both victims on walls inside the house.

Officials also collected cell phones from both deceased victims and a handwritten letter which says something to the effect of, “If I didn’t die I would probably be carried to die elsewhere. And if dead, take the body for 1-2 days.

Also a large sum of cash (37,500 baht ) was withdrawn and divided between their children.

Other sexual evidence ties Mr. Khai to the scene of the crime as well as being reported to flee the scene in a white BMW after shots broke out.

Relatives of the dead said that Ms. Kamonthip was divorced for 20 years and living at home alone. On the morning of May 23, “Khai Khai” brought fruit to his ex-wife but she refused to even talk to him. Mr. Khai” then left and returned later saying he wanted to mow her grass, but she denied him entry.

Miss Kamonthip Sobkraib and Mr. Khai then had an argument which the mother of Miss Sobkraib heard but ignored and left the house.

The next morning, the mother returned to a quiet house where she found her daughter and Mr. Manee in the backyard dead.

Signs of both bodies showed signs of being beat and shot despite the attempt to burn any evidence. The bodies were burned in a garbage pit and then stuffed in black bags. Songkhla Provincial Court then quickly approved the arrest warrant for Mr. Wirat Kaewthongphan,36 yr old for intentionally killing others, concealing a firearm, and burglary.

Mr. Wirat’s motorcycle has been detained at Hat Yai Police Station since last night and is being heavily questioned even though he already confessed to the two murders.

Also, police found mud similar to the location where the bodies were found inside his vehicle.
