Proposed rehabilitation of THAI Airways will soon expose corruption

Former international crime prosecutor, Mr. Wanchai Roujanavong, likes the proposed rehabilitation of Thai Airways International because he says it will open Pandora’s Box, exposing corruption in the bankrupted Thai carrier.

Mr. Wanchai posted on his Facebook page today stating that the Thai Airways rehabilitation process will soon reveal that they paid high fees for the rental of an aircraft with money they didn’t have, one of the main causes of the airline’s fall. They can no longer hide.

Mr. Wanchai claims that the airline’s fleet was leased to THAI through several agents, allegedly with the consent of the airline’s board.

Without the proposed rehabilitation plan, Mr. Wanchai said that that the public would probably never know the truth “while the parasites just continued to suck out all of the airline’s blood .”

Mr. Wancgai also predicts that a lot of cases will emerge over this issue as a result of THAI’s corrupted rehabilitation process. He also added, since THAI was a state enterprise before it filed for bankruptcy, those accused of corruption will face higher consequences.

THAI has already filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US courts and has an estimated debt of about 200 billion baht.

Back in January 2017, there was another internal corruption investigation after Thai Airways was named in a bribery case related to the British company, Rolls-Royce Plc.

Rolls-Royce agreed to pay more than $800 million in fines to resolve charges of bribing officials in six countries, including Thailand.
