Young novice killed over a video game at Buddhist temple in Waeng Dong

The incident started early on the morning of June 11th  at Ban Nong Don Temple in Maha Sarakham province. Two young novices began to quarrel at 7 am over a video game the two would play each other on their handphones. The two were having breakfast when things got out of control, the Abbot tried to help them and stop the fight but they were both in a rage and would not listen.

The two novices left the breakfast area and went to their rooms. The Abbot was afraid there would be more quarrels so he followed closely behind still trying to calm them down. But as soon as they entered their room they were on top of each other, one of the novices was stabbed during a rage. He was stabbed on the left side of his chest and laying n a pool of red while his friend apologized. He asked the Abbot to call the police while holdng his friend who was bleeding to death, but his 18-year-old friend didn’t make it.

The victim was 18-year old Kiatisak Senama, His killer/ best friend. also 18 is currently in custody.

It was later learned that both novices were residents of Na Chueak District, Maha Sarakham Province, by ordaining to study at this temple 3 years ago. They were considered close friends.

The Abbot, Luang Ta Pradit Chantawangsoo said the two novices were ordained at San Pa Tong Subdistrict; Na Chueak District, Maha Sarakham.  During the ordination of novices in the summer they both became close friends before moving to the temple.  As far as the Abbot knew, both were good-natured. They had some quarrels like children do here and there but nothing so violent. Tate said that they were just arguing over a game Which they were playing and regretted the incident.
