A series of raids and arrests have been conducted over a course of a week from June 5th to the 11th in hopes of shutting down a large sex trafficking network.
These networks abduct vulnerable young children of all ages, some as young as 2 years old who are often drugged, abused, and sometimes killed by their sex trafficking pimps. In return, they are then sold to individuals/ pedophiles or brothels in Thailand. Sometimes these traffickers sell children to individuals who travel to Thailand for child prostitution and will allow the child to leave the country with the individual who purchased them.
Human trafficking has been an uphill battle for a long time, but even saving one child’s life makes it all worth it.
Recently an anonymous tip was given to police about a Facebook fan page /online prostitution business. The fan page provided enough evidence to raid two sex hotels in Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi. Authorities said the suspects lured many children of all ages into their hotels. They watched the “mother-in-law” deliver a large number of children to Mr. Tai’s sex trafficking network located at two of their hotels. A hotel manager would take over from there by supplying their customers with children who came to use the hotel service.
The Human Trafficking Suppression Division (OPD) found 6 victims at the hotel aged between 13-17 years old. The hotel is known to service local businessmen in Ratchaburi and Kanchanaburi areas. Many pedophiles rely on these hotels to buy children.
One of the men connected to human trafficking and child prostitution was arrested in connection to 6 different cases. Also, during the raid, police found a 9 mm pistol, 15 rounds of ammunition, 26 boxes of condoms, and 3 cases of lubricating gels. “Che Madam”, one of the Mae Lo network suspects already tried to pay a 300,000 baht bail claiming that she had no part of the sex trafficking network although police have enough evidence to prosecute.
