Police officers at Thung Song Police Station, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province are Investigating the gruesome scene where a 3-year-old boy was found dead. The child was found in his bed with wounds from a 357 magnum.
his father, Kittipak Thongrod, was lying in front of the house, while the 2 children, aged 5 years, and 3 years were playing inside their bedroom. The boy saw his father’s gun bag, opened it, and started to play with it before pulling the trigger accidentally while the gun was pointed at his chest.
After the father heard the gunshot, he ran inside to find his 3-year-old son laying on the floor next to his 357. The father asked the grandfather to rush his son to the hospital even though he appeared dead to them. The father didn’t report the incident immediately which made him a prime suspect as a possible murderer. Although the police were told the young boy likes to play with guns and had picked up the 357 many times in the past, the father still failed to keep it out of reach. Police are questioning why the father would leave a loaded gun in the children’s reach if he knew both his sons liked to play with guns. Police brought in a forensic team to test Mr. Kittipak’s hands and body for gunpowder residue and the incident is being treated as a crime scene.
