On 15 June 63 police arrested Mr. Wilai, aged 51 after being on the run for 20 years. According to the arrest warrant of Nakhon Phanom Provincial Court at 1203/2547, dated 8 July 2004 on charges of “rape and murder of a fifteen-year-old girl. Mr. Wilai dumped the 15-yr-old girl at the roadside in Samut Prakan Province.
Mr Wilai has been a fugitive for a long time hiding as a rice farmer in various locations. He hasnt had a registered place to live and work for almost 20 years wandering around Poo Chao Samingphrai and Phra Pradaeng District, Samut Prakan Province The people in the neighborhood that knew him, nicknamed him “Zombie” but didn’t know that he was a wanted man for rape and murder.
Mr. Wilai denies all charges, he said he never raped or killed the girl.
