June 17, 2020, a shipment from Chiang Rai to Yala was recently intercepted by Chiang Rai Police. Police have reported that many drugs are smuggled from the northern border areas into 3 southern border provinces by private transport companies in Wiang Pa Pao District, Chiang Rai Province.
After a tip, they inspected a large parcel box which they asked the delivery staff to open. Inside the box, they found 2 speakers but weighed 17 kilograms more than what the package read. The police became suspicious and had a look inside the speaker and to their surprise, they found a total of 52,000 amphetamine pills.
