Trat – There was a drowning incident at one of the earthen ponds in the village of Noen Din Daeng, in Muang District. The victims were both a mother and daughter, Miss Thippawan Sa-nguan Hong, 23 years old, and Siriporn Sae-laow, 10 years old. When both were pulled out of the pond, neither of them had a pulse. A neighbor immediately began CPR until rescuers from Bangkok Trat Hospital and Trat Hospital arrived.
The ambulance could not drive down the narrow road so they had to run about 100 meters to where the two victims were. Upon arrival, both victims had weak pulses. They took over from there, performing CPR themselves before running back to the ambulance with them on stretchers, first the mother and then the daughter.
They brought the mother to Bangkok Trat Hospital first while continuing 6 rounds of CPR for 12 minutes on the daughter before taking her to Trat hospital to receive further treatment.
Mr. Pornchai Sae-la, 38, said that his wife and children were playing in the earthen pond which is an old soil pond used to grow cucumbers in. But he realized both the wife and the children had disappeared before he saw their shoes floating in the soil pond. He yelled for help before jumping into the water to rescue them and pulled them both out one by one before neighbors called the police.
Both mother and daughter regained their pulse after arriving at Trat Hospital Bangkok. Many attempts were made by the original rescue team and the hospital to keep them alive, a true heroic attempt but sadly the mother passed away.
