Thailand celebrated the 68th birthday of  King Maha Vajiralongkorn on Tuesday with official religious ceremonies and public displays of loyalty throughout the country. The king himself, however, was absent from his own festivities.

Vajiralongkorn, reigning title Phrabat Somdet Phra Vajira Klao Chao Yu Hua, has been the King of Thailand, reigning since 2016. He is the only son of King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit. In 1972, at the age of 20, he was made crown prince by his father. His Birthday was on July 28th.
