The Thai authorities at Don Mueang airport Bangkok stated that domestic service will be expanded from Friday May 1st with an expected 3000-4000 passengers and up to 92 flights per day.. with an 11-hour window to fly.

But airport authorities have warned that your temperature must be 37.5 degrees or under and you must wear a mask to be able to fly.

Air Asia and Lion Air will be offering flights to and from the airport to destinations throughout Thailand.

Flying Officer Samphan said that recently Nok Air had been offering 10 return flights a day from the airport catering to about 1,000 passengers.

From Friday Nok Air will expand its service to 24 flights and Air Asia will offer 18 and Lion will have four return trips.

About 3,000 to 4,000 people are expected to fly meaning that planes would only have around 30 to 40 passengers each. This will mean 46 return trips or 92 legs.

Samphan said that there will be two thermo-scanners at two entrances to the airport, passengers will have to be 37.5C to fly and social distancing measures will be in operation from check-in to the gate.

Retailers and taxis have been asked to return as the airport whilst everything slowly gets back to normality.

Thai Rath said that Air Asia will offer return trips to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchasima, Nakhon Phanom, Roi-Et, Nakhon Sri Thammarat, Hat Yai and Surat Thani.

They will also have the Chiang Mai to Hat Yai route.  Lion Air will offer services to Chiang Mai, Ubon, Khon Kaen, and the south.

Flights from Don Mueang will commence at 7 am and the last flight will return there at 6 pm so that curfew measures are not compromised.
