State Railway of Thailand

The Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (Mr. Nirum Maniphan) has announced that COVID-19 restrictions have been lifted, allowing trains to travel across provincial areas again. Passenger vehicles, as well as those involved in public transport, including transportation of people or goods between provinces, will be back in business. Additionally, a total of 106 trains will be in service, including, Suburban trains, normal trains, and local trains who are expected to comply with travel ease measures. Phase 3 will begin operations on June 11, 2020, onwards, until further notice.

Extra Safety

Mr. Nirut added that they will be taking preventative measures to avoid spreading the Covid-19 virus. He stated they will strictly require all operational personnel to wear a face mask or cloth mask as well as rubber gloves and a face shield throughout the service period. Also, an Intensive passenger screening will be done prior to boarding as well as supplying sufficient and thorough service for alcohol gels Both the station area and on the train.

Social Distancing Measures

Social Distancing will also be enforced in the station as well as on the trains. For example, on the trains, only a minimum number of seats will be allowed to avoid overcrowded compartments. When full, they will stop which means they will not allow passengers to stand. Furthermore, the sales of food on the train carriage has been suspended until further notice and it’s advised If passengers are traveling longer than 3 hours, to prepare their own meals. Also, they will install the “Thaichana” application at the station and on the train to control the flow of passengers by providing easier Check-in and Check-out.

Long-distance bus convoy Operated from 11 June 2020 onwards, consisting of 20 trains (round trip) as follows:

Northern Line From 11 June 2020 (travel), 2 trains consisting of the 7th Special Express Train (Diesel Train) and the 9th Special Express Train (Bangkok-Chiang Mai)Since 12 June 2020 (return trip) amount 2 trains, consisting of the 8 Special Express Train (Diesel Rail) and the 10 Special Express Train (Chiang Mai – Bangkok)
North-East Line From 11 June 2020 (travel) amount 2 trains, including the 23 Special Express Train (Diesel Train) No. 71 (Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani) and the 25 Special Express Train (Bangkok-Nong Khai)Since 12 June 2020 (return trip) amount 2 trains consisting of 24 special express trains (Diesel trams) No. 72 (Bangkok-Ubon Ratchathani) and special express trains No. 26 (Nong Khai-Bangkok)
From June 11, 2020 (travel) amount 3 trains, consisting of the 31 Special Express Train (Bangkok – Hat Yai Junction), the Special Express Train No. 37 (Bangkok – Sungai Kolok) and the Special Express Train (Diesel Rail) at 43 ( Bangkok – Surat Thani) (** Car no. 31 and 37 do not provide passenger transportation services in Chumphon And Surat Thani Since it is still in the curfew period **)
From 12 June 2020 (return trip) amount 3 trains consisting of the Special Express Train No. 32 (Hat Yai-Bangkok Junction), the Special Express Train No. 38 (Su-ngai Kolok-Bangkok) and the Special Express Trai
(Diesel Rail) at 40 (Surat Thani – Bangkok);(**Car # 32 and 38 will not provide passenger transportation services in Chumphon And Surat Thani Since it is still in the curfew period.**)

Suburban trains, normal trains, and local trains 88 trains (round trip) as follows:

Northern Line Suburb train And regular trains and 15 local trains
North-East Line 12 regular and local trains
Southern Line regular trains and 18 local trains
Eastern lines: 15 regular trains
Mae Klong – Ban Laem lines, 6 local car trains

Additional Info:

The extension of the special passenger train service is extended at 9051/9052 (Bangkok – Chiang Mai – Bangkok), special passenger train at 9071/9072 (Bangkok – Ubon Ratchathani – Bangkok) and special passenger train at 9075/9076 (Bangkok – Nong Khai – Bangkok) has extended the service for an additional 30 days (from 17 June – 17 July 2020) to provide additional convenience to the public.

For passengers wishing to travel with long-distance passenger trains, Reservations can be made up to 30 days prior to departure. The reservation will be open from 10 June 2020 onwards. Police chain suspects doors and windows until next morning

On August 9, A man attacked an officer, took his gun, and fled to his house in Plang Yao District, Chachoengsao Province. The officer then tried to persuade him to surrender for more than 6 hours but still failed.

Later at 6:00 pm, Plangyao Police Station decided to send 50 officers from a special operations unit in Chachoengsao Province.

The standoff lasted until 11:00 p.m. and the villain still showed no signs of surrendering.

So, they decided to chain his doors and windows preventing him from escaping until the next day rather than risk any of the officers or even the suspect’s life.

Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Police in Chachoengsao Province started to process a search warrant for the next morning after leaving a couple of police officers to watch the house.

Later, Col. Sonthaya revealed that the perpetrator was named Mr. Anon, 45, at the house in Tha Bunmi Subdistrict, Koh Chan District, Chonburi Province, who went into a drunken methamphetamine rampage and destroyed his neighbor’s ricefields.

Chachoengsao Province

Police tried to intervene but Mr. Anont took a gun from Officer Or Sor and ran away. Mr. Anon’s daughter also reported his unusual behavior saying he was showing signs of aggressive behavior telling officers to exercise caution especially since he had a gun.

Police hope he will surrender after bringing a search warrant after the drugs wear off. To be continued……..

Later, it was reported that the suspect had escaped through the back of his house prior to officers boarding up his doors and windows. Police then conducted a search of the house and did not find the stolen gun. Police are still searching for the armed and dangerous suspect now.

Thai embassies hit by Covid-19: Staff members of Thai embassies in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have contracted the novel coronavirus, according to the Foreign Ministry. The embassy in Manama reported that a foreign employee suffering mild symptoms tested positive for Covid-19, ministry spokesman Cherdkiat Atthakor said on Sunday.

‘Sick’ policeman jumps to his death from hospital

A policeman in Si Sa Ket province who suffered from mental illness reportedly killed himself on Saturday (August 8) by jumping out of the hospital building. The deceased, Suwaroj Khumthong, 53, was a police officer at Muang Chan Police Station who was admitted to Sisaket Hospital due to his mental condition.
